Whenever conditions or circumstances in our lives are less than ideal, we feel like we can’t, or experience more difficulty doing certain things. We also find it much harder to stay mentally grounded and balanced. External influences naturally have an effect on our internal worlds, and can make it harder for us to do, and think, in the ways that we want to. Chaos and uncertainty around us have a negative, hindering effect on our mindset, productivity, thoughts, and optimism. Negative or opposing factors present in our lives will make it harder for us to be as efficient and positive when it comes to being the best versions of ourselves. Happenings in our lives that cause feelings like uncertainty, grief, anger, and shame, can keep us from operating at our best, and make it harder to do the things we need to do, and think the way we should. This can bring a sense of instability, rocking our internal worlds as much as our external ones.
Life will always have ups and downs. Amazing moments, and low points. Happiness and joy, and sadness and heartbreak. Organization and structure, and chaos and uncertainty. The fact that everything is constantly changing, and that nothing lasts forever heavily lends to this truth. We can’t count on our physical, external worlds to always be predictable, conducive to our positivity and efficiency, and operate in our favor. If we did, we would very often not be able to operate at our best, and from a balanced, optimistic state of mind, since life has many constant ups and downs. So, we would have to sacrifice a lot of time from our lives, giving away our power and potential because of what happens around us.
Things happen in our lives that cause us to worry, be sad, angry, and cautious. These things cause us to operate from a place of fear, suppression, uncertainty, or pessimism, thwarting any effort that we do make to be productive and positive. If our physical world is chaotic, and we are struggling in any way – be it emotionally, physically, mentally, or even financially, it can be hard to be immune to the chaos and effects of the things that happen to affect us mentally and spiritually. We tend to generally ascribe to the notion that ‘we are products of our environment,’ which means that what we experience externally will manifest internally, and affect our actions, thoughts, and behavior.
It is not easy to be unaffected by the chaos and instability that life will always bring. However, we definitely have the power and ability to build up our resilience to undesirable, and unexpected happenings in life. We are able to strengthen our spiritual stamina when it comes to dealing with these things, while simultaneously self actualizing/realizing and keeping a positive attitude and outlook. It’s hard to do the things we’re supposed to when our physical worlds hold uncertainty and threaten our peace. It’s also hard to keep a positive attitude about life and our potentials, when things are seemingly falling apart, or flawed. External chaos can be paralyzing and causes us to operate at a lower level, meaning that our efforts and thoughts are not as deliberate and positive.
Our mental reactions to problems in our lives are completely normal and are our way of responding to threats to our realities, happiness, and peace of mind. We will always be affected in some way by external happenings, but we have a significant amount of control over how much we let them affect us. Our thoughts are always ours, and are generated by us. Thoughts are influenced by happenings and how we perceive our external environment, but are still created by us. We get to control how we react to everything that happens in our lives, and the thoughts we have about them. Our thoughts are very powerful, and dictate our perspective and positions regarding the things that happen around us. We have the power to choose positive thoughts and a positive mindset, regardless of what happens to oppose these things. We also get to choose how long, and how frequently we let negative thoughts (that happen as a result of undesirable happenings) occupy space mentally. Holding onto the thoughts and perspectives that come about as a result of hardships, loss, chaos, instability, doubt, grief, anger, or worry is our choice, and we determine how much we let them affect our lives and spirits.
Positivity is a choice, since there are as many reasons to be negative, and pessimistic. It isn’t easy to build up the spiritual stamina necessary to deal with properly processing the negative things that happen around us, but it is possible, necessary, and worth it. We have to learn how to control our thoughts, and maintain as much mental balance as we can during rough times in life. We have to trust that bad moments don’t last forever, and that ups and downs are necessary and should be expected. We should make it our duty to learn from our mistakes, look at the unfortunate things as opportunities to grow spiritually, and not cling to the things that happen that threaten our peace. Chaos and uncertainty are not defining and not lasting, and don’t dictate what our lives are, or what they will be.
It is our duty to remain as unchanged and unaffected by the things that threaten our peace as we possibly can. We hold the power, regardless of what happens around us.
