Dreams, Desires and Goals

I’ve come to be a firm believer in the concept that everything happens for a particular reason. I also think that this concept applies to things such as thoughts, ideas, or even the things we end up daydreaming about having. Maybe, out of all the things that we think of, scenarios that we imagine, and the things that we wish and dream for, at least a few of these things are things that we should consciously strive to have. Maybe, some of these things are really meant to be pursued to the best of our abilities, and are things that we should at least try to work towards.

Many of us have desires that we automatically think are impossible to have and don’t ever consider the fact that it is actually possible for these desires to materialize into our realities. We put these particular desires, the ones that we consciously AND subconsciously yearn for and wish to have, into metaphorical boxes that we create just for them. These boxes are kept closed at all times, and our ‘unrealistic’ desires stay in those boxes, only to come out when we decide to imagine (and only imagine) what it would be like for these things to actually happen.

We imagine certain things, and fantasize about what our lives would be like if they happened, but we never entertain the idea of these things actually happening because we have no intention of making them happen. In most cases, we wouldn’t even know where to start, what to do, or how to get to that place that we dream of. It seems unreachable and unobtainable because it’s something that is very far and different from our current realities. Just thinking of what it would take to reach some of our desires can be so intimidating that we automatically deem them as impossible to have. I think that this feeling, the hesitation to even pursue something that we don’t know how to obtain, is one that is justified and is normal to have.

Most of what we do on a daily basis in our lives is already ‘figured out.’ Figured out in that we know the outcome of most of the things that we do daily, and we know what we need to do to reach different outcomes. Pursuing something out of the ordinary, or outside of our realms can be compared to getting in a car and trying to get to a particular destination without having even the slightest clue about the route that has to be taken. It wouldn’t make any sense to us to get into a car if we didn’t know how to get to our destinations, or to start tasks without knowing what has to be done to complete them. Similarly, it seems impossible to get to a place that is not easily obtainable, because we can only picture the final destination, and can’t picture or imagine anything about the journey to get there.

In many instances in this seemingly complicated thing called life, it only takes a small change in thinking or doing to make a really big difference. Certain things can instantly become simplified, become clearer to us, or get better just by us making small changes in the way we think, or the things that we do. Sometimes a simple shift in perspective is all that we need to help us achieve anything that we really want. Instead of wondering how something is going to happen, we need to focus on what we need to do to assist the process of it happening.

We need to realize that it’s impossible to mentally compress the events that have to take place for something big to happen, and that we can’t understand or know what things are going to happen, or in what order they are going to happen. All that we need to do is be our best, do our best and be positive about the outcomes of projecting our energies in a particular way. Little things lead to big things. Great things all start from a small, simple idea or action that gets builded on and builded on, until it becomes what it is meant to be. Focusing on the things that need to be done to achieve something is all that we need. Trying to figure out when we should do them, how we should do them, hesitating to do them, and wondering if we’re going to be able to do them the right way are all things that hold us back from reaching our goals. We need to step back from all these things that cloud our vision and thinking, trust our intuition, and just do it.

Amazingly thought provoking, insightful and inspiring.
Interesting to read and easy to comprehend. Very well written. And to think, from the mind of such a complex and special human being! Icing on the cake.
