Every one of us has a routine to follow each day; we go to work, school, and do whatever other things that make up our daily activities. We do these things day after day, and they become habits; parts of us and things that become so commonplace that we don’t think twice about doing them. They take up our time, energy and focus, and shape our lives and outcomes.
It’s easy to become overly consumed by daily activities and whatever our routines are. Working can be stressful, school can be stressful, starting your own business can be stressful, and even raising kids be stressful. Using all of your mental energy for the different things that make up the majority of the hours in your day can be draining and can make a lot of us tired, lack creativity, and lose touch with ourselves and the world around us.
Sometimes, a lot of us don’t stop to appreciate the little things that matter the most to us; our family members, valued friendships, or things as simple as being blessed enough to be free and not have to worry about our safety every day. Being aware and being appreciative of the things that really matter the most in our lives can really put things into perspective and changes the way we view the world, respond to different things, and the way we feel about ourselves and our lives.
It’s great to be focused and ambitious, but, just like everything else, living with purpose is all about achieving a balance. We need to make time for the things that make us happy, the things that feed our souls and encourage us to express ourselves and be who we are really meant to be. Every single day, we’re faced with so many things that can wear us out and break us down, causing us to be distracted and so invested in our routines and what we need to do every day that we neglect our relationships with ourselves.
Stepping back from the madness every now and then is needed, and is something that we should try to make time for. We need to make time for our hobbies and the things that make us happy, foster and nurture the important relationships in our lives, and appreciate all of the great things around us. We are all blessed and have so many things that are placed [deliberately] in our lives for us to enjoy and benefit from.
Appreciating and making time for the little things that most of us take for granted goes a long way in developing us as individuals and allows us to express ourselves and be uniquely who we are meant to be.
