We are all completely misunderstood by some people.
Some people ‘get’ us to a certain extent.
Some people know us almost as well as they know themselves and understand us ALMOST completely.
It’s impossible to have everyone’s approval or be every single person’s ‘cup of tea.’ The truth is that everyone sees us differently. Some people may know our hearts and our intentions, but nobody understands us completely and many people have wrong impressions of us. We are judged and criticized for things that we can’t help, our mistakes in life and choices that we’ve made. EVERYONE will be judged in their lives, simply because everyone (including you and I) will always judge people around us (sometimes even unknowingly).
If we will always be judged no matter what we do, who we try to be, or who we pretend to be, then why should we ever put any effort into being anything but exactly who we are meant to be and want to be? Sometimes we hesitate to do or say certain things because we aren’t sure how other people will take them, or because we’re afraid to be judged. Refraining from following our hearts and doing what we feel like doing because of what people might think or say is pointless, since we’ll still be judged, regardless of whatever it is that we do. It’s something that’s impossible to avoid; so suppressing ourselves is unnecessary and won’t even make a difference.
Being ourselves, unapologetically, is something that we should all feel comfortable doing. We’re meant to express ourselves, make the choices that we want, and live our lives for ourselves without worrying about whether the things that we do will be approved by other people. Realizing what it means to be an individual who isn’t swayed by outside influences and choosing to act based on convictions and personal desires without hesitation leads to real freedom.
