Two Things

Getting things done, accomplishing goals and being ‘successful’ are things that we want, think about and work towards. We think of things that we want to achieve, and set goals, and proceed to work on these things. We know that being able to accomplish certain things isn’t easy, and that it takes hard work and dedication. We know that we can’t achieve things overnight and that it always takes time to reap the benefits of our hard work. We also know that there are many things that can stand between us and things that we want to achieve, and whenever we’re aware of these things, we try our best to avoid them.

I’m sure most of us have things that we want to accomplish right now. We all have things that drive us; things that we want and certain places where we want to be in our lives. These are the things that influence the things that we do every day, and the choices and ‘moves’ that we make. Achieving these things and reaching certain ‘levels’ are things that we think of daily. We each have different goals and different ideas of what ‘success’ means to us. While these things may all differ from person to person, there are two things that can stand in the way of anyone achieving anything, and are things that affect us all at some point.

We are intimidated by big, overwhelming things. It’s natural. Anything that is something that we aren’t used to doing, or something that takes a lot of work and mental focus can be scary to most of us. So, we have an idea of where we want to be, and what we have to do to get there, but sometimes, the road that takes us to that place seems way too long. Also, that ‘road’ can feel like a very rocky one that we have to walk, without any shoes. The journey to get to a particular place may seem impossible sometimes, but we think of it as being harder than it actually is because of that particular mindset. Although its true that achieving anything great and being successful aren’t ‘easy’ things, we make it harder than it has to be by focusing on the whole journey to get there, and not the smaller parts of that long journey. Learning to take things one day at a time and enjoying the process can make a world of difference. Just that simple change in perspective can change the way we feel and make it easier to do the things that we need to do.

When certain things don’t happen exactly the way I want them to, or in the amount of time that I expected them to, I sometimes lose patience and give up. We all know that great things take time, and that anything worth having doesn’t come easily, but sometimes it just seems easier to give up on things that aren’t happening as quickly as we want them to, and move on to something else that seems more promising (at the time). But then think about this: Any one who has achieved something that they worked for didn’t do so by trying a few times and then getting there right away. Persistence is one of the most important things when it comes to achieving our goals. If we pursue something with enough passion, and keep at it, there is little else that can stop us.
WE need to stop limiting ourselves and holding ourselves back
